Highway 99, south of Sacramento, giant bronze T-rex. Seen it?

Thursday, October 28th, 2010

I was driving from Sacramento, south on 99 when I saw a garden decor shop and out in the back was this huge T-rex sculpture in bronze. It was incredible. After two days of driving, I’d forgotten the store’s location on the way back up to Sacramento, and looked for it, but couldn’t find it. I don’t recall if it was south of Stockton or perhaps Fresno.
Please, if you know, tell me the town it’s in if not the name of the store.

Thanks

There are little black aunts all through my vegetable garden. What do I do?

Thursday, October 28th, 2010

About 6 weeks ago, I planted a vegetable garden – my very first one!

I just got up close to the soil to pick some weeds and I noticed little black aunts all over the soil. I assume this is a problem and they will eat the vegetables, right?

What do I do about it? I was so heartbroken since I was so excited about my first garden. Will these little guys ruin my garden?

Thursday, October 28th, 2010

I have just moved to a new house, my suite is 2 leather sofas and i need some ideas for decorating the room. I want to paint the walls and buy some accessories to make it look nice but can’t find any photos with black suites to give me inspiration. The room is rectangle shaped, a good size and has laminate flooring. It has patio doors out to the back garden. Any ideas or links to photos would be great! thanks

What is a safe alternative to using pressure treated lumber for vegetable garden beds?

Wednesday, October 27th, 2010

I’m making raised beds for my vegetable garden and for obvious reasons can’t use pressure treated lumber. I was thinking of using 1x10s, but cedar or redwood are not in my price range. does anyone know of anything I could do to treat pine that won’t leach into the soil and kill me? also, I have a ton of the original siding from my house (built in 1948) up in my attic. it’s about 1" thick and 8" wide and I have it in lengths of 8-10′ long. It’s been painted on one side, and I’m not sure what kind of wood it is. does anyone know if old siding is historically treated w/ anything nasty to make it fire resistant or age better? and would the paint pose a potential problem? the wood is in good shape, but I’m not sure how safe it would be to use. any thoughts?

how do i grow parsley in an indoor herb garden?

Wednesday, October 27th, 2010

i have a small pot with some parsley seeds and soil in it, im hoping to grow the parsley indoors. i have a place to put in a south-facing window.

my main question is, how do i water it correctly? someone told me it has to be watered often, but be careful not to saturate it, so im not so sure how much water i should be giving it or how often.

thanks
