Sunday, March 25th, 2012

I have a gravel garden instead of grass and it gets untidy with fallen moss and debris from trees and birds which is difficult and painstaking to keep neat.

What advice do you have regarding the best method/tools for the job to maintain it tidily?

Is my town too small for a pet store?

      Wednesday, December 22nd, 2010

      Hi,

My town has approx. 1600 people living there, and there’s no pet store. I’m thinking of opening one, in fact I’ve already requested a business license for a pet and garden supply store. There are about 5 local groceries who sell basic pet food for cats & dogs: Pedigree & Whiskas.

My store would offer more of a variety of pet supplies & food as well as Birds & Freshwater Aquarium Fish, and well, garden supplies & decor.

Is my working population large enough? You think?

      Thanks!

How high would I need to build a fence to keep my hens out of my vegetable garden?

      Wednesday, November 3rd, 2010

Both my hens and vegetable garden will be in my back yard and when I’m not at work the hens won’t be locked in their run. I want to fence off a 10’x15′ section to turn into a vegetable garden.

How high will the fence need to be to keep heavy birds out?

And will clipping my one lighter bird’s wings keep her out?
And I will actually be keeping them in for a few weeks for fertilizer and aerating the soil 🙂

Can starting a vegetable garden attract vermin?

      Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

My sister and I are planning on planting a small vegetable garden in our yard, so far we know what to do to get rid of grass and such. But we’re worried about attracting vermin, we have a lot of mice and possum in the the summer as well as birds. The city just shut down it’s program for keeping the city free of rats and mice… and we just got rid of an infestation of mice in our house. Would this be inviting the vermin into our yard and possibly our house?
