Horticultural Society of Pakistan’s Flower Show 2009 (Part 3 of 4)

Tuesday, June 28th, 2011

Every year in either late February or early March, the Horticultural Society of Pakistan organizes a mega flower show in Karachi (the largest city of Pakistan). So this here is my first ever try at making a long video of it! Venue is of course DHA’s seaview beach park. I unfortunately could not capture the gardening tools which were on display, as my camera’s battery ran out of juice. But everything else was recorded. This is the 3rd of 4 videos. I regrettably had to split the video in 4 parts, because the original file was too large to upload here. However the full version can be see on Vimeo (in much better resolution). www.vimeo.com

      Thursday, May 19th, 2011

I don’t really want to buy 3 or 4 different kinds of fertilizer for 3 or 4 different plants. So what is one good overall type that would fit almost any vegetable. please and thank you

How high would I need to build a fence to keep my hens out of my vegetable garden?

          Wednesday, November 3rd, 2010

Both my hens and vegetable garden will be in my back yard and when I’m not at work the hens won’t be locked in their run. I want to fence off a 10’x15′ section to turn into a vegetable garden.

How high will the fence need to be to keep heavy birds out?

And will clipping my one lighter bird’s wings keep her out?
And I will actually be keeping them in for a few weeks for fertilizer and aerating the soil 🙂

Indoor Herb Garden – Mixing plants?

          Friday, October 22nd, 2010

Can I plant parsley, basil and thyme in the same indoor tray?

Also, what kind of fertilizer do I need to use?
How much time do I wait for them to "acclimate" to their sunlight until I add some soil and pot them?
Please read the question carefully – I know I can grow herbs inside, I have a tray for them already. I just want to know if I can plant those three herbs in the SAME tray?

How do I prepare soil for a vegetable garden from a grassy lawn?

          Saturday, October 16th, 2010

I have already started the seedlings, but I want to transplant them into the ground tomorrow. I’m hoping to prepare a little patch of soil on my grassy lawn, but I know nothing about gardening.
I understand I have to till the soil several inches deep, but what do I do with all the grass? I know I don’t want to get rid of the top soil, but do I just mix all the grass in with the soil??
All I have is a shovel, hoe, fertilizer, and some muscle, but no fancy gardening tools.

How do I sew seeds for an indoor herb garden?

          Friday, September 17th, 2010

I’ve purchased the potting mix, the seeds and some felt like starter pots. Do I sew seeds in the pots or start them in a petre dish with water in the bottom? Do they need heat, light, darkness, fertilizer?
