Horticultural Society of Pakistan’s Flower Show 2009 (Part 3 of 4)

Tuesday, June 28th, 2011

Every year in either late February or early March, the Horticultural Society of Pakistan organizes a mega flower show in Karachi (the largest city of Pakistan). So this here is my first ever try at making a long video of it! Venue is of course DHA’s seaview beach park. I unfortunately could not capture the gardening tools which were on display, as my camera’s battery ran out of juice. But everything else was recorded. This is the 3rd of 4 videos. I regrettably had to split the video in 4 parts, because the original file was too large to upload here. However the full version can be see on Vimeo (in much better resolution). www.vimeo.com

Parents are selling their house but refuse to make it look attractive?

    Sunday, April 3rd, 2011

My parents have just put the house on the market. I’ve been spending at least 5 hours a day slaving in the garden de-weeding, cutting back the forest of trees and foliage and cleaning and de-cluttering the house.

Now, they are really angry at me because I mentioned that the paint on the windows outside is terrible and the wallpaper inside is falling down in some places. I don’t know whether I’m just being paranoid, but I think especcially in the hallway where people first enter it is really important that the decor is good. It wouldnt be that expensive to strip and paint the hall and paint the windows frames outside but my parents get really angry at me even suggesting it. My mum also refuses to move any furniture round to make the rooms look spacious because she doesn’t want to be uncomfortable.

It’s really annoying me, because I know with only a tiny bit of effort the house could look great and fresh. But my parents just can’t seem to be bothered. My mum sees it as some huge stressful mission, when to me it’s not. I am perfectly happy to do all of it myself.

Maybe if it doesn’t sell quickly they will think about it. I hope it does!!! Do you think it matters if the house looks a bit shabby? The house is generally tidy and clutter free but looking really tired.
The problem is they do REALLY want to sell quickly…man I wish they could go away and I secretly do it. It’s not possible though lol

How to create a Tim Burton-style bedroom decorations?

          Wednesday, February 2nd, 2011

I am trying to create a Tim Burton style bedroom. Kind of like a dark enchanted world type of feel. Like the garden in Coraline or Willy Wonka or Corpse Bride style. The room in a dark lavender. I have purchased some black vinyl to make interesting designs with. The basic inspiration for the room is something like:

The room is very large so I am trying to come up with interesting furniture or decor or even floor art that could really make the room feel right. Any thoughts?

            Sunday, January 2nd, 2011

hey, i am a teenage girl and i am redecorating my room in a alice in wonderland, through the looking glass style. think like a laura ashley garden party with a alice in wonderland twist (if you can imagine, the classic beauty of laura ashley florals with the fun and artsyness of alice).
anyways, i have all of my furniture, which is white, and i want to know a creative way to refurnish them. If it is also possible, does anyone have any bedding/accessory/anything else ideas?

            thanks so much

Where can I get decor and accessories to go with this? And what about..ideas please!!!?

            Saturday, October 23rd, 2010

I just asked a question about what a great way to do a theme for my daughters room. She will be 1 1/2 and getting into her toddler bed, and I wanted a theme that wasnt artoony and would last till at least 5. Well I got a great answer about a french/country tea party garden. Where can I find crib matress sized linnens and what colors would I use on walls and bedding and drapes? I dont want wild colors or anything. Simple luxurious fabrics and colors please. As of now she has tan burber carpet but I think I want to switch to bamboo hardwood. Her furniture is cherry so would a sandy/medium brown wood color be ok with that? Any thoughts on where to find some great decor to go along. Please nothing to "childish". I’d like it to be tasteful yet fun and classy. Not beyond her age, just not like dora the explorer type stuff.
Well as of now her walls are ivory on top yellow chair rails and trim and sagey green wainscoting. We have apinted before we knew whether or not she was a boy or girl so the paint was neutral. I would like to throw some more girly colors in there. And I really love like super super light lavendary colors.
