How are you turning your spring garden?

Sunday, March 4th, 2012

Are you still using a pitch fork or is it all automated for you now.
Ours is so small we just began turning it over by using hand tools.
Probably be less time to use a tiller but it is a reason for everyone to get together.
Still to cold to plant but we are at least getting a start.
How does your garden do this time of year?

Advice on good tools for the garden?

    Monday, September 5th, 2011

My grandpa had tools that really lasted through the years – some he only ever had to buy once. I’ve already bought several tools that I’ve already replaced because they were made badly.
Anyone know of some good quality tools that are hard wearing and comfortable to use? I’m looking for small hand tools like a handfork and a shovel and a fork.

I DON"T JUST WANT A LINK! I want names and YOUR personal experience with the tools and what you like and don’t like.

Vote cheaters shouldn’t bother answering (you know who you are!) – I will be voting for the best answer.

Would these tools get my Garden done?

        Saturday, June 25th, 2011

I want to start a garden from grass using only hand tools. I will add rich dirt, manure and whatever i need also. But i plan on using these tools in this order…Do you think i should add others?

        1. Hand twist cultivator (till dirt/grass up)
        2. Garden scraper/straight hoe (break up grass clumps)
        3. Spading fork (loosen deep soil)
        4. Hand Cultivator (clean excess grass)
        5. Action hoe (remove uncoming weeds)
