What should I do about indoor cats?

    Sunday, July 24th, 2011

    Hey everyone,

I have 2 cats who have been indoor cats since they were born, I always lived in a building so that wasn’t a problem, they’re 7 years old and it’s been two years since I’ve moved to a house with a garden, they would do anything to go out, so at first I felt sorry and let them go and I’d sit with them until it became like a habit, if they didn’t go out they wouldn’t stop meaw’ing (they never meaw for anything!)
So now since they’ve come home with lots and lots of different insects on them I bathed them, applied the appropriate medication and have not let them out since then. But just looking at them looking out the window breaks my heart.
What should I do? Is it wrong from keeping them from their natural environment? Is it not wrong because I’m protecting them from potential danger to their life? I don’t know what to do! Any help in this matter is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

Need advice on organic and/or evo-friendly pest control for vegetable garden?

      Sunday, May 15th, 2011

I’ve got a nice vegetable garden, but grasshoppers and other insects are going after my broccoli plants something fierce. I’d rather not use chemical insecticides to stop them. Does anyone have any advice on how to protect my plants without resorting to Raid? I’ve heard of making solutions with dish soap and other household items; that’s the sort of stuff I’m looking for.

        Wednesday, April 13th, 2011

I would like to plant a vegetable garden this spring . I have read raised beds are more beneficial and produce a larger yield . What material i.e. wood/ would help prevent insects in an organic farming kind of way? I thought cedar or redwood.

What is the most effective, non chemical way of controlling insects in a flower and vegetable garden?

          Tuesday, November 9th, 2010

This is my first attempt at gardening, and even with daily watering and a compost application, some flowers are dying and others just aren’t growing well. Insects are the next logical thing I can think of as to what may be causing a problem (I’m learning as I go), and I only prefer to use natural, organic insect deterrent. Other gardens in my area (New England) are doing very well. Thank you so much for any advice!
