Best indoor plants for a beginner?

Sunday, July 10th, 2011

I would love to grow lavender or other aromatherapeutic plants, but don’t have access to a garden so I’m left to inside my apartment.
But I have no gardening experience so if ya’ll have any suggestions, that would be great! Thanks

    Designing an indoor garden?

    Thursday, April 28th, 2011

I am designing an indoor garden. It will be located in a glass sunroom/conservatory. Unfortunately, most of the books about indoor gardening are about growing plants in pots. I want to create an ACTUAL indoor garden — lavender, jasmine, ferns, irises — planted in soil beds.

What I want to know is:
    1. Whether there are any books or websites on the subject.
    2. Whether the plants I’ve mentioned would grow in good indoor conditions, and any other plant suggestions (preferably plants with flowers!)

      Starting an indoor herb garden?

      Friday, April 22nd, 2011

I would like to attempt an indoor year-round herb garden. I am interested in mints and lavender for teas and I would like some others for cooking. What would be some good ones for beginners? Also what are some good resources to turn to in regards to indoor herb garden/organic gardening?

How to create a Tim Burton-style bedroom decorations?

        Wednesday, February 2nd, 2011

I am trying to create a Tim Burton style bedroom. Kind of like a dark enchanted world type of feel. Like the garden in Coraline or Willy Wonka or Corpse Bride style. The room in a dark lavender. I have purchased some black vinyl to make interesting designs with. The basic inspiration for the room is something like:

The room is very large so I am trying to come up with interesting furniture or decor or even floor art that could really make the room feel right. Any thoughts?

Ideas for decor using the following color palette?

          Thursday, November 18th, 2010

Baby pink, soft gray, pale aqua, peach orange, lavender, mint green, black, white and champagne.

Please don’t tell me I have too many colors, as I’m getting married in Spring and want a spring color palette that matches both my personality and my fiance. We’re going with a watercolor tie-dyed theme for our garden ceremony. We are very fun and outgoing sort of people and we love tons of colors paired with shades (such as gray, black, etc). Our dream isn’t to have the traditional white wedding… its to have a fun day that represents us as individuals blending together and us as a couple.

At the moment, we’re a bit stuck on what types of decorations to use in the garden as it’s already a decoration by itself. We’re having a traditional pagan handfasting, so some pagan-ish ideas would be great. =) Also decoration ideas for the reception would be great as well. Our reception will be held at our home, as its a very informal dinner event, with just a few close friends. For the reception, we’re concentrating more on our Italian heritages for inspiration with hints of our love for medieval/fantasy art.

Gardening questions….What veggies can I plant in the winter? Herbs for indoor herb gardens?

          Sunday, July 11th, 2010

So, my first garden is coming to a halt, we’ve almost harvested everything, including seed. So now, I need to know what I can plant in the winter, I live in SW VA if that helps you any as far as my climate. I’m sure there are some veggies that can be planted, but I’m not sure what or when to plant. Any ideas?

I’m getting ready to start an indoor herb garden for my, boys who are almost 2 and 4. I think it will be a very rewarding project for them, they loved helping in the garden this year and I think they’ll love to help take care of an indoor garden as well. I’ve ordered some lavender online (2000 seeds for !!), I’m going to buy some chives, basil, thyme maybe, I just don’t know what all to get. Can I even plant lavender indoors? Do I need to have a special light or can I just plant them in pots and keep them in the window seal? Would it work better to have an aquarium or something like that for them? I’d love to have any ideas on what to plant for our herb garden and any suggestions that you might have.
