My mom planted a vegetable garden over our recently buried dead cat. Is it gross to eat the vegatables?

Our cat of twenty years died 7 months ago. We buried her approx 2 feet under ground in a cardboard shoe box. My mother planted a vegetable garden (squash, eggplant etc.) 14" away from the grave site. My mom has been serving my brother and I the vegetables every night. Is it gross or wrong to eat them?

Indians used to to plant corn with a dead fish next to the seeds. It became fertilizer. The same with the cat. Once the plant has processed the nutrients, you will not have any ill effects. Some people actually eat cats. Except for the bias, there should be no problem.

I would not eat them. They could be contaminated.
